Yuk-wha Li

Yuk-wha Li
is currently Director, Strategic and Business Planning,
Nortel Networks, working out of its Corporate Headquarters in Brampton,
Ontario. She is currently responsible for conducting global telecom
market and competitive analysis, with emphasis on the Asia Pacific
market region. She is also involved in identifying and evaluating new
business opportunities for emerging business segments as well.
Born in Shanghai and brought up in Hong Kong, Yuk-wha received her
bachelor degree in Computer Science from University of Minnesota in
Minneapolis in 1976. She obtained her Master of Mathematics degree in
Computer Science at University of Waterloo in 1977. She joined the
technology division of Nortel Networks (Bell Northern Research) as a
Member of Scientific Staff in 1980 and stayed in the R&D functions till
1988. Since 1988, she had held various management positions in product
management, marketing, business development and strategic planning.
Twice in her career, Yuk-wha has stationed in Asia Pacific. She returned
to Canada in 1996 and assumed different strategic planning functions in
Headquarters.
Since 1999, she has frequently lectured in the newly established Masters
of Engineering in Telecommunications Program at the Faculty of
Electrical and Computer Engineering in the University of Toronto on
Telecom Industry Dynamics and potential impact of Telecom/IT/Internet
Convergence.
