Theresa Miedema

Theresa Miedema
is a Doctoral Candidate in the Faculty of Law at the
University of Toronto. She also practices law in the area of
telecommunications and technology. Ms. Miedema obtained her Hons. B.A.
from the University of Trinity College in the University of Toronto. She
holds an LL.B. from the University of Toronto.
Ms. Miedema was called to the bar in Ontario, Canada in February 2001.
She practiced telecommunications law at a major Canadian law firm until
she returned to the University of Toronto to pursue graduate work. She
continues to practice law with this law firm on an on-going basis as an
independent consultant.
Ms. Miedema's general interests lie in the area of telecommunications
law (Canadian and international) and law and development. She is
currently involved with research pertaining to dispute resolution in the
telecommunications sector, telecommunications policy and regulation,
regulatory governance, administrative procedures, and ethnic conflict in
developing societies. Her doctoral thesis focuses on the use of
institutions and administrative law and policy to mitigate ethnic
conflict in developing societies. Her thesis supervisor is Professor
Michael Trebilcock.
